Voting process has begun
Voting process began at 8am today for the general elections to appoint the 25th term MP’s.
53,741,838 voters will be voting in the polling stations today for the 25th term MP’s from 8am onwards.
Voters will be able to vote in polling stations that are allocated to them in their electorate voting cards or they can be found online on YSK (Turkish Supreme Election Board). Citizens will be required to know their ID numbers in order to vote.
20 political parties will be competing against each other today. Names of the independent candidates will also be on the voting paper as an option of selection. Voters are required to stamp ‘yes’ on their chosen party or candidate.
Who would not be able to vote in the elections?
Those who are not under Ministry of Interior Population and Citizenship Affairs and General Directorate and the Central Population Management System in Turkey, those who are restricted, those prohibited by the public utilities, those under arms, cadets, those who are convicted of involuntary crimes and those imprisoned of intentionally committed crimes will not be able to vote today.
According to YSK (Turkish Supreme Election Board) there are 47,192 new voters over 18 in Turkey and 56,066 new voters in foreign countries. In total there are 2,866,979 voters overseas which gives a total of 56,608,817 registered voters who will be able to vote today.
Alongside this voting in the customs will also be ending today. (ILKHA)
