President Erdoğan and Putin come together
Russian President Vladimir Putin came to Ankara upon the invitation of Turkish President Erdoğan.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan came together with the Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin, who made a visit to Turkiye upon official invitation, in the Presidency Complex.
Russian President Vladimir Putin welcomed by Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmet Yıldız, Russian Ambassador to Ankara Alexei Yerhov at Ankara’s Esenboğa Airport.
Following the meeting, Erdoğan and Putin held a joint press conference, said they agreed with the developments in Iraq and Syria.
“We come for the fifth time together with my dear friend this year,” said President Erdoğan and added: “Our Ministers is discussing with Russian counterparts. Our bilateral strengthening is important. We give importance council meeting as the two countries. We will host Putin again for next council meeting. Previously we set a goal like 100 billion dollars. Energy is one of the important issues in our bilateral relations. We attach importance to the Turkish Pipe and the Akkuyu project. Today we talked some setbacks. Today we have discussed Iraq and Syria issues. We agree on the Iraq and Syria's territorial integrity.”
Referring to the referendum that held in Iraqi Kurdistan, President Erdoğan said: “The referendum in KRG has no legitimacy. One has no right to jeopardize the region for individual or of short-term interests. After the referendum in the sensitive period, we must prevent the IKRG from doing more grave errors. We take the current talks on Syria with Putin. We have decided to continue intensively our efforts to Idlib. We are pleased to the political process in Geneva. We will continue our next process with our friends.”
Putin, the President of Russia, who said that they signed an important success in the de-conflict zones, said:
“We scored a major success. This happened with Erdoğan's initiative. We evaluated the referendum held in KRG. Made the assessment of the issues at the Russian Foreign Ministry. We reviewed our bilateral trade relations. It increased 30 percent in 7 months.” (ILKHA)
