New videos of the burnt Madrasah
After HDP’s (Peoples Democratic Party) call out to the streets, 6th and 7th October incidents took place. During this period PPK supporters in Van, Turkey burnt down Said Nursi Kulliye.
According to the footage that shows Kulliye being burned, people walking around Kulliye did not intervene despite the flames.
One person recorded the burning down of Kulliye building, covered completely in flames. It is reported that in the video there were a few people nearby the building and they all failed to do anything to stop the madrasah being burned down.
Approximately 5 million Turkish Liras worth of damage caused
Bediuzzaman Said Nursi Kulliye was built by Van Educational and Cultural Trust, which was burnt down during the 6th/7th October incidents. This caused approximately 5 million Turkish Liras worth of damage.
The Kulliye is located on Milli Egemenlik Road where the group set fire to the couches, electrical wirings and broke the tiles and parquets.
“Students with low financial statuses were going to make use of it”
The Kulliye had 3500 square metres building area, which was going to be the largest Kulliye within the area. It was aimed to allow students with low financial statuses to make use of it.
Due to the incidents a break was given to the construction works that still has not restarted.
During the 6th/7th incidents PKK supporters literally targeted Islamic values where they wildly killed Yasin Boru and his friends. (ILKHA)
