PKK's bloody date: Susa massacre
PKK slaughtered 10 Muslims 23 years ago in a mosque and despite all the years the past is not forgotten and still remembered today. The anger and grudge to murderers is increasing as days go by.
In the history many people have been slaughtered in mosques around different parts of the world. PKK’s massacre in Susa mosque comes forward in the geographic area of Kurdistan. On 26 June 1992 PKK attacked a mosque in Susa village located in Diyarbakir Silvan slaughtering 10 Muslims and injuring 4 after isha prayer.
A group of PKK members dressed in army clothing and raided into Susa mosque slaughtering people and despite it been 23 years the day still remembered today. Victims of the massacre are remembered every year in the program organised and people are still rankled. Murderers are cursed for slaughtering Muslims worshiping.
Susa massacre is the evidence of their grudge and animosity against Muslims in the lands of Kurdistan.
Examining it from this prospective, murderers of the Susa massacre; in terms of stubbornness are like Ebu Cehil and his comrades, they are faithless as pharaoh and his helpers, they will remembered with Nemrut.
Susa in located in Diyarbakir Silvan, which is a village, made up of 90 houses. It is 80 kilometres away from Diyarbakir and 5 from Silvan and they are known as loyal people to their religion Islam.
Friday 26 June 1992 night
Islam was spreading across the geographic area of Kurdistan and reached Susa in a short period of time. Quran and religious teachings had started in the mosque in Susa. PKK was aware of this and therefore wanted to prevent any activities taking place other than theirs. They wanted to stop Islamic activities by tricking and threatening the villagers and the struggle begun between them in Susa.
On 26 June 1992 Friday night, people were reading Quran between magrib and isha prayers. More people came into the mosque for isha prayer and whilst they were praying the killers had already gathered around the mosque. PKK members claimed they were soldiers from the army and asked the people to come outside. People were tied from their hands and forced to come outside. Shotguns were then fired and blood was flooded around the mosque.
In the Susa massacre Haci Ahmet and his son Emin Kantar, Zeki, Medeni Said and Meki Fidanci brothers, Muhammed Ali Uslu, the mosque imam Abdulhalik Ugas, Adnan Kantar and Huseyin Cetinkaya were murdered with 5 people being injured.
Second massacre attempt in Susa
In 1998, PKK made a second massacre attempt with soldier guards, as they had previously done in 1992 and killed 10 people. After the massacre, the PKK had left the village however came back with the help of soldiers. The soldiers had told the villagers that the PKK were going to attack the village on the 28th of February and told them to leave the village for couple days. The villagers left their homes, crops, animals and went next to their relatives in nearby villages majority being in Silvan village.
The PKK had settled in this village with the help of the state soldiers, which had given them more power.
When the villagers wanted to get back to their homes, they came across the PKK whom had weapons and bats in their hands. The villagers attempted to cross over to get to their houses however were shot with guns.
In this second attempt of massacre, 10 people were injured. The villagers stated that the guard leader had said, “Don’t leave any of them alive, and end their offspring."
History had repeated. The innocent and victim people of Susa had once again been shot with guns like they had 6 years ago. 6 years ago with their soldier clothing in the mosque and now with guard clothing they vomit their anger and hatred towards religious people.
